MARTA Prepares to Serve Weekend Events – Customers Advised to Plan Ahead

Atlanta, GA--  Due to the implementation of service changes this Saturday, MARTA is advising customers traveling on the system this weekend to plan ahead. MARTA is prepared to provide convenient service to the Midtown Festival of the Arts, football games and other activities; however, customers should be aware of several changes that could affect their trips.  Weekend rail service will now begin at 6 a.m. rather than 4:45 a.m., and trains will operate every 20 minutes on all lines.

In addition, due to employee layoffs as a result of the budget cuts this fiscal year, fewer station agents will be available to assist customers. Patrons are encouraged to visit www.itsmarta.com or call 404-848-5000 to plan their trip prior to arriving at a station. As always, safety and security are MARTA’s highest priorities, and the Police Department remains fully staffed despite other budget cuts.  Additional MARTA Police will be available this weekend to assist with events.
For only $2 each way (plus a 50¢ charge to purchase a temporary Breeze ticket or a $5 charge for a permanent Breeze card), MARTA is by far the best way to avoid traffic and affordably travel to events.  Customers can purchase round-trip fare, daily passes or multi-day visitor passes from any of MARTA's 38 rail stations.  Due to the large crowds expected this weekend, customers are advised to purchase a round-trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid long lines on the return.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Center Station must park in MARTA designated areas and validate their parking ticket at machines inside Lindbergh Station in order to receive free daily parking.  Please note that MARTA has some designated lots which charge a fee.
