The National Coalition of 100 Black Women Host its 2nd Annual 'Our Favorite Things Christmas Gala'

Atlanta, GA--  The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc Northwest Georgia Chapter (Mrs. Virginia Martin, Chapter President) will host its 2nd Annual Our Favorite Things Christmas Gala on Saturday, December 4, 2010. The black tie event will be held at a private estate home in the Atlanta area. During the gala, products from businesses throughout the metropolitan area will be featured in various luxury lounges—just in time for attendees to purchase unique holiday gifts for friends and family. In addition to its featured businesses, the evening will also include live music, cocktails, delectable food and a silent auction. The event, which attracted politicians and local community and business leaders in 2009, is expected to be the hit of the holiday social circuit again this year.

A portion of the proceeds generated from the gala will benefit the chapter’s High School to High Heels Mentoring Program and Scholarship Fund. The purpose of High School to High Heels is to provide adolescent African American girls with positive role models and to promote self-awareness as they transition from their teen years into young adulthood. The 2-year program has several foci including: academic achievement, career development, self respect, and respect for others. The program’s goals are achieved through one-on-one mentoring, professional development seminars, and cultural activities. Girls also receive guidance regarding collegiate opportunities. Scholarship monies are offered to exceptional students.

Over 500 guests, are expected attend the chapter’s signature event.
