A Bride’s Work is Never Done… Believe Me, You’re Not Alone

Getting married soon? Still have a checklist of things to do before the big day? If so, we’re in the same boat, and trust me when I say, “Don’t sweat it.” For the next few weeks, take a walk with me as I share ideas as well as wedding vendors and events located on the west side of metro Atlanta that are sure to help your day—and mine—go off without a hitch!

First things first… If you’re planning your own wedding like me, you must first have a plan in hand, assess your needs, and evaluate your budget to make it all happen. Where will you be married? Where can you get a great deal on a beautiful gown? What about the bridesmaids? Who will cater? Anyone know the name of a good DJ out there? Oh, the questions that must be dancing around in your mind!

Thankfully, to help answer these questions, I was able to catch the Douglasville Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Bridal Showcase held last Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Douglasville Downtown Conference Center. All of us brides had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with wedding professionals, and find just about everything we need to create the wedding of our dreams.

Bridal salons, photographers, caterers, florists, and travel agents galore greeted us with warm faces, information, and offerings to make our day as memorable as possible. The reception-like atmosphere with party music by DJ Mark and mouth-watering sample entrees like the Cajun pasta offered by Gabe’s Downtown Louisiana Bistro heightened the excitement of the evening. The added touch was Dance Affair, a ballroom and Latin dance studio, which provides choreography for your first dance.

These are just snippets of what’s available to fellow brides on the west side of metro Atlanta. We’ll explore more vendors soon, but in the meantime, be sure to look for the next posting later this week to discover what definitely should be on the top of your wedding planning list.
