Converse Unveils Basketball Court At Atlanta's Historic Piedmont Park

I was excited to be apart of the Unveiling of the first basketball court in Piedmont Park to Converse Open Gym youth and members of the community last evening. Keeping with the spirit to encourage our youth to stay active and involved in extra curricular activities, Converse donated the sport cork courts to Piedmont Park not only  because their heritage is rooted in the sport of basketball and they are committed to giving back to our youth at the grassroots level but more specifically to Piedmont because of its historic and iconic destination in Atlanta. Converse felt there was no better place than Piedmont Park to leave a permanent stamp on Atlanta.

Multimedia personality Rashan Ali served as the court dedication moderator, as other dignitaries such as Julius “Dr. J” Erving, City of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell, and others gathered with anticipation for the court’s dedication. Ceaser Mitchell, Mayor Kasim Reed and Julius Erving proved that you can be ‘cool’ dignitaries, as they all sported their Converse sneakers while participating in the evenings celebration.
