This is the 9th Annual Earth Day Kids Fest and is sponsored by Captain Planet Foundation and Chattahoochee Nature Center, in addition to being presented by Macy’s Foundation.    As the name would imply, the Earth Day festival is just for the kids.  It’s an event where there is lots of learning, but lots of fun too.

Join the Mozley Park Community Clean-up on Saturday 11/13

Atlanta, GA--  District 4 Atlanta City Councilmember Cleta Winslow will partner with the Mozley Park Community Association for a community clean-up from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 13th in the Mozley Park community.

Volunteers will be collecting discarded tires and picking up roadside trash and debris along Langhorn Street and Interstate 20.

Since January, District 4 has coordinated over 30 community clean-ups.

Councilman C.T. Martin and the Mayor’s Office will Host a Community Clean Up on Nov. 6th

Atlanta, GA--  Atlanta City Councilman C.T. Martin and the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services will host a community clean up on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The starting location for the community clean up will be at Maxway Collier Heights Plaza, located at 3599 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Volunteers will concentrate on two specific areas:  Olympian Way (island) and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Bolton Road (underpass).  

Surrounding neighborhoods are encouraged to participate by bringing their debris and other trash to the Joseph McGhee Tennis Center, located at 820 Beecher Court or to Maxway Collier Heights Plaza, located at 3599 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Fulton County Kicks Off its Tree Partnership with the West End, Bringing more Trees back to the City

Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 8:30 a.m., Fulton County will kick off a partnership with Trees Atlanta, Hammonds House, Eco Addendum and West End Neighborhood Development that will increase Fulton County’s urban forest footprint by planting new trees at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System’s West End Library and in the community.

The new partnership will educate citizens about the importance of tree conservation in the community. At the kick-off event citizens will have the opportunity to learn about tree care and tree installation, and take part in tree planting demonstrations.

Fulton County District 6 Commissioner Nancy Boxill will join volunteers as they plant the new trees on the library grounds.
