Fulton County presents home rehab for seniors only

FAIRBURN, Ga. -- Fulton County seniors can learn more about Housing Rehabilitation issues during a Tuesday, June 11, 2013, Information Session at New Beginnings Senior Center.

The session begins at 12:45 p.m. and concludes at 1:45 p.m. New Beginnings is located at 66 Brooks Street in Fairburn.

The one hour program will provide information on Home Repairs. The information session is sponsored by the Fulton County Office of Housing and Community Developments, a division of the Department of Housing and Human Services.

Gospel celebration at Wolf Creek Amphitheater

ATLANTA -- Elizabeth Baptist Church will present The Gathering, a gospel concert, at Wolf Creek Amphitheater next week.

The lineup includes some of the biggest names in gospel music, such as Tye Tribbett, Anita Wilson, Jonathan Nelson, William Murphy and "Sunday Best" winner Crystal Aikin.

The Gathering will be Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 for reserved seating, $20 for general seating and $10 for children.

How do you expose urban youth to Georgia’s agriculture? You open a Pizza Farm!

The Cooperative Extension Metro Collaborative of Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb and Clayton counties have invited 4th and 5th grade students to visit Pizza Farm 2013 on May 8 and 9, 2013 at the State Farmers Market Exhibit Hall located in Forest Park, GA. Attendees will learn how dairy, vegetables, grains and meats come together to make the perfect pizza, as well as about good health and nutrition. 

“We are excited about the Pizza Farm!” states Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension. “Many children think their food comes from the grocery store.  The Pizza Farm will teach them that every pizza starts at the farm.”

Exhibits on the origins of pizza ingredients will be presented in a circuit of stations set up around the State Farmers Market Exhibit Hall.

Each year, novice and veteran student filmmakers enrolled in Spelman College Digital Moving Image Salon’s film studies course draw from their personal interests and academic pursuits to produce documentaries that detail the varied and layered experiences of women of the African Diaspora. Three student collaborations from the course, which delve into health and wellness, the Syrian Revolution and homelessness, will premiere at the Ninth Annual Spelman College Digital Moving Image Salon Student Documentary Film Showcase Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Midtown Cinema.

ATLANTA -- The Spelman College Department of Music presents a performance by pianist Hyunjung Rachel Chung, Ph.D., associate professor at Spelman College, Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. in Sisters Chapel. Chung will perform a selection of classical compositions to include Beethoven’s “Fantasia Sonata In D,” Faure’s “Valse-Caprice No. 1 Op. 20” and works by Debussy. The recital is free and open to the public.

ATLANTA -- On Sunday, March 24, over 200 bloggers, media and sponsors gathered at Ambient Studios in Southwest Atlanta for the first formal awards ceremony celebrating bloggers in fashion and beauty.

As a publication designed especially for millennial's, Lexus gravitated towards the ingenuity of the 2013 B. FAB Awards and recognized that the Lexus brand was synonymous with the messaging for the B. FAB Awards and therefore sponsored the 'Lexus Style Blazer Award'.
