Chick-fil-A Daddy-Daughter Date Night returns in 2013

ATLANTA -- Chick-fil-A's wildly popular Daddy-Daughter Date Night will return in February.

More than 100 Atlanta- and Athens-area Chick-fil-A restaurants will host the event on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Every couple in attendance will receive an activity sheet with conversation topics and a booklet called "Continuing the Conversation," which gives the dads and daughters suggestions for getting to know each other better.

"One of Chick-fil-A's goals is to promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone we serve," Chick-fil-A area marketing director Robin Lomax said in a statement. "We understand the importance of father-daughter relationships and want to encourage dads to take a break from busy schedules, enjoy their daughters' company over a meal and have fun."

AKA holding peace rally for middle school students

ATLANTA -- Members of metro Atlanta's chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will hold a peace rally and workshop for middle school students over the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Ivy Community Center in southwest Atlanta. It is part of the 40 Days of Peace project, which aims to spread service and kindness through the country.

The peace rally and workshop will aim to teach young people about Dr. King's mission, and to raise awareness of crime and crime prevention strategies. Law enforcement members will also give an interactive presentation to encourage children to stamp out gangs and bullying.

Middle school students from several metro Atlanta counties -- Cobb, Cherokee, Clayton, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale -- are expected to participate.

Fulton County to host AT&T Senior Tech Rallies to help seniors learn to use latest technology

ATLANTA -- Fulton County and AT&T want seniors to embrace the latest electronic communications technology through workshops on how to use items, such as smartphones, tablets, apps (applications).  Two senior multipurpose facilities will host two workshops known as “Senior Tech Rallies”.  Both rallies will be open to registered multipurpose program participants.

The first workshop will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex.  Benson is located at 6500 Vernon Woods Drive in Sandy Springs.  The second workshop will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility located at 677 Fairburn Road NW.

Cascade UMC hosts drive-thru Nativity

ATLANTA -- Cascade United Methodist Church will host its popular drive-thru Nativity again this holiday season.

Guests can view the Nativity's five distinctive scenes on two different days. Hours include 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.

In the first scene, the Archangel Gabriel visits Mary to let her know that she has been chosen to bear God's son.

Next, Mary and Joseph take a journey to Bethlehem, only to learn that there is no room at the inn.

In the third scene, an angel appears to shepherds near Bethlehem and tells them to "be not afraid."

The fourth scene shows the Wise Men seeing a shining light in the east.

Finally, Jesus is born in the final scene. Shepherds, Wise Men, angels and townspeople alike rejoice at the birth of their king.

ATLANTA -- Fulton County comprises 10 percent of Georgia’s population and accounts for 54 percent of the state’s AIDS cases.

In recognition of World AIDS Day on December 1, 2012, starting November 27, both health agencies will sponsor events to encourage residents to take control and get tested in a world-wide effort to reach “ZERO New Infections, ZERO Discrimination and ZERO AIDS Related Deaths.  The County has partnered with DeKalb County to provide similar services in order to have the greatest impact on reducing new HIV infections.

Planned events include:
