The Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development at CAU Holds Town Hall Forum on 1/26

Atlanta, GA--  The Healthcare Reform Bill was passed and signed into law by President Obama late last year.  Now as Republicans begin to attempt to repeal the bill, the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development (CCRTD) at Clark Atlanta University will host a town hall meeting on cancer research and treatment on January 26th.

Under the theme "The Impact of Health Care Reform in Impoverished Communities," the event will focus on health care reform legislation both at the federal, state and local levels, relevant to patients and consumers. The town hall will take place at 1 p.m. in the Robert W. Woodruff Library, Virginia Lacy Jones Exhibition Hall, 111 James P. Brawley Drive, S.W. (adjacent to CAU’s campus) and will air live on CAU-TV, Comcast 23.

Georgia Lottery’s All Access Finals to air Tonight

A star-studded cast of Georgia’s favorite celebrities and musical guests will appear in an hour-and-a-half-long special, counting down the top four winners of the Georgia Lottery’s All Access Music Search. Entertainment Tonight correspondent Kevin Frazier will host the live show at 8 p.m. Friday.

Celebrities, including multi-Grammy winning songwriter-producer and musician Dallas Austin; 2011 Grammy-nominee songwriter-producer and musician Clay Cook of the Zac Brown Band; singer-songwriter and radio personality Monica; and country rock singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins will provide musical talent. Famed actress-singer and dancer Jasmine Guy will choreograph the primetime show.

In this special episode the Georgia Lottery will reveal the top four musical finalists of the Georgia Lottery’s All Access Music Search. Those finalists will head to Hollywood to record a track at the legendary Capitol Records Tower.

Samaritan’s Feet is proud to announce its National Day of Service event in Atlanta, GA.  These efforts are to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On Monday, January 17, 2011 more than 500 kids will receive new shoes and a message of hope from 10am-2pm at Rescue Atlanta Church, 410 Englewood Avenue, SW, Atlanta, GA 30315. 

More than 100 volunteers will wash the feet of the children and place a new pair of shoes on their feet.  The volunteers will wash the feet of the children and share a special message of hope. As Dr. King stood for more than just marches and rallies, his concept of “somebodiness,” which symbolized the celebration of human worth and the conquest of subjugation, gave the impoverished hope and a sense of dignity.

Over 1000 Black College Students Give Back to the Community

Atlanta, GA--  

Over one thousand African American students and marketplace professionals gathered in Atlanta from around the country days after the holiday to celebrate the 10th national conference of “The Impact Movement,” a faith based non-profit organization that seeks to produce emerging leaders of African descent with strong character, financial principles and resources to share their faith in Jesus Christ to help their communities, campuses and global community.

Atlanta has served as the home of the event for seven of the last nine conferences and took place downtown at the Marriott Marquis Hotel from December 27, 2010 through December 31, 2010.

The conference is entitled “Impact '10 - The COME BACK” and is known to be a life-changing event for students and young professionals.
