Bridalpalooza: an exclusive bridal tour

Bridalpalooza is back! Bridalpalooza is NOT a bridal show yet an exclusive bridal tour showcasing the best in traditional and non-traditional venues as well as fascinating wedding tastemakers in a particular city. Planning for a wedding can be stressful and if couples are not in tune with what their city has to offer, then they should purchase tickets for Bridalpalooza Sunday January 16, 2011.

Brialpalooza begins promptly at 8:30am and chauffeur couples around town to see fabulous spaces transformed into dynamic themed reception replica's, taste delectable foods, smell the aroma of freshly cut floral designs and touch each display made specifically for them. The tour is designed to be small in numbers to fully engage the couples as they find the right vendor for their special occasion.

The evening winds down with a bridal mixer designed to better understand each couples individual needs!

As the first event of the observance, on Saturday, January 8th at 9:00 a.m., The King Center will host and co-sponsor with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion a “2.5 Mile Youth ‘Stop the Violence’ Walk/Run.” At 11:00 a.m. on the 8th, The King Center will join with the CDC in presenting “Kingian Nonviolence in Action Youth Expo and Health Fest” at the Martin Luther King, Jr Recreation Center, showcasing creative violence prevention strategies of high school student leaders across the country and providing health education conducted by medical professionals, free of charge. Confirmed participants: Gospel and positive hip-hop artist T-Rep The Young Prayzr.

On Tuesday, January 11th At 6:00 p.m., the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership, in collaboration with The King Center, will present a seminar on gang, school and youth violence prevention in The King Center’s Freedom Hall Auditorium.

Atlanta's NAACP & Big Bethel AME celebrate 147 years of African-American Freedom during Jubilee Day

The Atlanta Branch of the NAACP held its annual Jubilee Day, an observance of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation that freed slaves in the United States of America on Saturday, January 1, 1863.  Big Bethel AME Church hosted the celebration, on New Year’s Day 2011, which included a gathering of NAACP members and well-wishers from the ecumenical, political and civic communities.  “This Jubilee Day paid tribute to 147 years of freedom for our people from bondage, and 102 years honoring the NAACP’s determination to be on the front line for the continuous battle for civil rights,” said Dr.  R. L. White, president of the Atlanta Branch and senior pastor of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church.

The Reverend Marvin A. Moss, senior pastor at Cascade United Methodist Church (Atlanta) delivered the key note message – and what a message it was.

Atlanta, GA--  In a press announcement scheduled for Tuesday at the Georgia World Congress Center Ms. Xernona Clayton, Former CNN Executive and CEO & President of the Trumpet Awards will address members of the media to launch the IntStyles BEFFTA Awards USA (Black & Ethnic Entertainment, Fashion, Film, Television & Arts Awards)

The 1st Annual IntStyles BEFFTA Awards (USA) is scheduled to take place on Wednesday February 23, 2011. The BEFFTA Awards were launched in London, United Kingdom in October 2009.  After two successful years in London, the BEFFTA Awards will debut in Atlanta GA in February 2011 as an integral part of the African-American celebrations to commemorate Black History Month in the USA. 

The BEFFTA Awards is a prestigious international event and a distinctly special awards ceremony honoring the best entertainment and showbiz personalities in the black community in the UK, USA and globally.

Eric Matthews, former NFL Star of the Green bay Packers, is preparing for his 3rd Annual Eric Matthews Red & Black Christmas Affair, which his Eric Matthews Youth Foundation collects Christmas toys and coats for under privileged families. 

Each year the Indiana University alum hosts this event he partners with a local charity to benefit their organization. For the second year in a row they are partnering with legendary foundation Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless

They collect new toys and coats for under privileged children and families serviced by the organization. Last year they collected over 325 toys and coats at the party, which went toward providing over 2,000 families with toys and coats at the Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless Christmas Dinner.
