ATLANTA -- April is National Minority Health Month. This year’s theme, “Health Equity Can’t Wait: Act Now in Your CommUNITY!”, is a call to action and unity for the nation to get involved and invested in reducing health disparities.  Since 2009, Fulton County Health and Human Services has been providing integrated services to residents in an effort to address health disparities and assist them with living healthier lifestyles.

“Fulton County continues to address health disparities that affect some of our communities more than others,” states Patrice A. Harris, MD, Director of Fulton County Health Services. “Everyone has a stake in community health; we have to work together to find solutions.”

ATLANTA -- Area residents are invited to join the Safe Kids Fulton County Coalition to celebrate 20 years of service to help keep kids safe.

The special event is scheduled for Thursday, March 29  from 10:00 am -12:00 pm at The Villages at Carver Family YMCA located at 1600 Pryor Street, SE. They will recognize current members and partners dedicated to saving kids’ lives by developing and conducting programs that reduce or eliminate preventable, unintentional injuries and deaths.

The coalition targets the four most common areas of unintentional injuries through education and awareness:

• Traffic Injuries (passenger, pedestrian, bicycle)
• Fires and Burns
• Drowning and near drowning
• Poison Prevention
