ATLANTA -- Hundreds of police officers across Georgia gathered at a service for an Atlanta police officer killed by a motorist.

The funeral for Senior Police Officer Gail D. Thomas was held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta.

The 46-year-old was killed Tuesday night when she was struck by a car while helping investigate a wreck on an interstate ramp.

Police have charged 22-year-old Chasity Jones with first-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and reckless driving.
