Arrest made in deadly I-20 shooting

ATLANTA -- Police arrested a 28-year-old man Monday evening for the shooting death of an Atlanta woman along Interstate 20 Monday afternoon.

Atlanta Police Officer John Chaffee says homicide investigators arrested Corey Jones, and charge him with felony murder and aggravated assault in the shooting death of 25-year-old Tyana Boyd of Atlanta.

Chaffee says officers responded to a call on the interstate at about 3:40 p.m. When they arrived, they found Boyd, who had been shot at least once in her abdomen. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where she later died.

The Atlanta Police Homicide Unit said their preliminary investigation indicated the shooting was not a random shooting, nor a road rage incident. No motive has been determined for the shooting at this point.

Investigators said Jones was the passenger in Boyd's vehicle.

The shooting apparently did not occur while the vehicle was driving on the highway, rather it appears the car was pulled off on the left shoulder of the roadway.
