Candlelight vigil to be held for firefighter

EAST POINT, Ga. -- The East Point Fire Department will hold a candlelight vigil for firefighter Carl Blake, who was killed Monday in a motorcycle crash.

Blake's colleagues and family members will gather on Jones Road in northwest Atlanta, where the crash happened, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to remember the 15-year veteran of the fire department.

The fallen firefighter's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in College Park. Blake will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery on Cascade Avenue.

Atlanta's first black Episcopal bishop elected

ATLANTA -- The Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta has chosen its first black bishop to lead the church's 52,000 members in north and middle Georgia.

The Very Rev. Robert C. Wright was elected Saturday by delegates representing the region's 96 parishes.

The 48-year-old priest currently serves as rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Atlanta. He will replace Bishop J. Neil Alexander, who has held the job in Atlanta for 11 years. Alexander is stepping aside to become a professor and lead the Department of Anglican Studies at Emory University's theology school.

Wright holds degrees from Howard University and the Virginia Theological Seminary. He was ordained a priest in 1999.

Wright is scheduled to be ordained as bishop Oct. 13 in Atlanta.

With the recent success of Think Like A Man, 135th Agency is now the exclusive public relations firm to major shows such as Mary Mary, Kendra On Top, The Braxton Family Values and film releases The Avengers and Sparkle. Covering events from LA, ATL, NY and Miami, Saptosa spoke about her drive which began in Atlanta at as a writer in the marketing department at Bad Boy Records.  Saptosa went on to graduate Cum Laude from Spelman in 1998 and from there began her career in the entertainment industry. Duffle Bagz Ent Dolla Boy talks about newest project on Riot Radio

This week while on the set at 2Chainz video shoot, Atlanta's Dolla Boy (Duffle Bagz Ent and 1/2 of the group Playa Circle) called into Riot Radio to discuss his recent project, 2K Hustla and debut his single "Ball". Recently his schedule has been packed with listening sessions, video shoots and shows across the United States as he prepares for his newest release. Dolla Boy, internationally known for the single "Duffle Bag Boys" featuring Lil Wayne and band member 2Chainz says his fellow Atliens such as Goodie Mob and Outkast paved the way for artists such as himself. He spoke about certain higlights in his career including performing the first time at the BET Awards to stages collapsing while on tour. With recognizing that the music industry has changed, he says the climate for independent artists to take off is likely.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Each member of the Fulton County Board of Education sponsors a monthly meeting open to all members of the community.

The sessions provide an opportunity for direct contact with community members and give board members a chance to listen to local issues and concerns.
