ADOPT A PET: Meet Homer

ADOPT A PET: Meet Homer

ATLANTA -- If you dream of coming home to a wet nose, wagging tail and tons of kisses (in addition to, perhaps, a half-chewed shoe or an overturned trashcan) adopt a puppy from your local Humane Society. According to the ASPCA, approximately 5 million to 7 million domesticated animals enter animal shelters nationwide, every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized. However, you can change those numbers by adopting a "companion" for yourself or for your family. Pets are an investment but, in our opinion, an investment well worth the money.

Homer is a six-month-old Labrador Retriever/Hound mix in search of a forever home. Homer would be most comfortable with a family who would take him on long walks and play catch and other active games with him. This dog isn’t trained; however, he would thrive if he was. Bring your family by to meet him.

Reward Increases in Animal Cruelty Case

Norred & Associates, an Atlanta-based security firm, will contribute $5,000 to a reward fund for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) who shot a mixed breed pit bull in the head with an arrow with a metal tip. The dog was found wandering the streets in Southwest Atlanta Tuesday evening, Sept. 13. The dog, aptly named "Arrow," is expected to recover from its injuries.
