Georgia Lottery launches new Georgia-only lotto game

ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery is introducing an exciting new game that will be available only in Georgia. Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match combines a classic lotto draw game with an instant-win component.

The game concept is the first of its kind in Georgia.

Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match offers jackpots starting at $1 million. The jackpot will continue to grow until there is a jackpot winner.

Additionally, players can select Ca$h Match for a chance to win up to $500 instantly.

Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match went on sale at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide Sunday.

Drawings will be held at 11 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. The first drawing will be conducted Feb. 23.

Tickets are $1 per play. The Ca$h Match option costs an additional $1 per play.

Players must pick six numbers from one to 47. Win the jackpot prize by matching the six numbers drawn. The game offers three additional lotto prizes from $5 to $500.

Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmers Market ends season Aug. 27

FULTON COUNTY, ga. -- On Wednesday, August 27 at 10 a.m., Fulton County Cooperative Extension will celebrate the successful fourth season of the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market. This year, the program provided approximately 31.5 tons of fresh produce to more than 6,900 residents in 24 Fulton County communities.

The celebration will take place at Berean seventh Day Adventist Church located at 291 Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, Atlanta and is open to all Fulton County residents.

The closing ceremony will include comments from Chairman John Eaves, Fulton County Board of Commissioners and Valeria Pickard, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Fulton Fresh was founded in 2011 as part of Fulton County’s continuous effort to address health disparities. Communities served by the seasonal program benefit from the delivery of fresh produce, nutrition education and were taught how to prepare tasty, healthy meals with the produce they received.

(WXIA) -- This weekend will be a holiday for Georgia families in more ways than one.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has suspended construction-related lane closures on all major interstates and highways within five miles of malls and shopping districts.

This will allow parents and students to enjoy the tax-free shopping weekend without the added stress of road delays.

"The sales tax holiday is an opportunity for Georgians to save a little money during these challenging economic times," GDOT Commissioner Keith Golden said. "The department is glad to offer some relief from lane closures as families prepare for school."

Every Body Walk! coming to Greenbriar Mall

Every Body Walk! coming to Greenbriar Mall

ATLANTA -- Kaiser Permanente will bring its Every Body Walk! program to Greenbriar Mall this week.

The initiative is desigend to encourage participants to walk for at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

Beginning Thursday, June 12, Kaiser Permanente will lead weekly walks through the mall. The first walk will begin at 11 a.m. in front of Burlington Coat Factory. Walkers will have a chance to win door prizes and other small gifts.

Kerry W. Kohnen, president of Kasier Permanente of Georgia, said he is excited to bring Every Body Walk! to southwest Atlanta.

"Creating healthier communities is central to our mission," Kohnen said in a release. "We believe that exercise is medicine. These weekly walks allow us to connect with the southwest Atlanta community outside of the exam room."

Kroger raises $232K for Children's Miracle Network

(WXIA) -- Kroger customers in metro Atlanta recently showed that they are a charitable bunch.

During the final two weeks in May, shoppers raised $232,000 for the Children's Miracle Network through the Miracle Balloons promotion.

For only $1, a customer could purchase a paper balloon to hang in a local Kroger. All proceeds from the fundraiser went directly to Children's Miracle Network hospitals and health networks, such as Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

"Kroger customers consistently show their care for our communities by constantly going above and beyond with their charitable donations," Glynn Jenkins, spokesperson for Kroger's Atlanta division, said in a release. "Through their support of the Miracle Balloons program, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of children."

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- Beginning Thursday, June 5, fresh produce will be offered at a new farm stand established by Fulton County Cooperative Extension to provide South Fulton residents access to affordable, fresh fruits and vegetables.

The Fulton Farm Stand will be open Monday thru Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is located at the front entrance of Camp-Fulton Truitt 4-H Center, 4300 Herschel Road, College Park, GA 30337.

“We are pleased to open our farm stand to provide residents access to affordable fresh produce,” stated Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension. “We are dedicated to helping people develop healthy habits to live healthier lives.”
